SMYRNA, Georgia (April 14, 2010) – Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna proudly welcomes Jeffrey J. Kovacic, MD, Orthopedic Surgeon, to its medical staff. Dr. Kovacic will begin seeing patients at his new Smyrna practice, Orthopedic Surgery & Sports Medicine Center, starting April 26th. His offices are located at 3903 South Cobb Drive, Suite 200, Smyrna, GA 30080 (on the campus of Emory-Adventist Hospital).
Dr. Kovacic is board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery and fellowship trained in Orthopedic Sports Medicine. In addition to this specialty, Dr. Kovacic’s practice encompasses all aspects of musculoskeletal care including joint pain, deformity, injuries, arthritis, and fractures in patients of all ages. He has particular interest in pediatric injuries as well as issues unique to athletes.
Dr. Kovacic is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, earning his bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University. He earned his medical degree from the Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio. Following medical school, he returned to Cleveland to serve an internship and residency in orthopedic surgery at the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic Foundation, where he also completed his fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine and surgery.
During his six years as a physician at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Kovacic was involved in the care of athletes in all disciplines of sports at all levels, including serving as a physician for the Gravity Games and an assistant team physician for the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers, and Indians.
In 2005 Dr. Kovacic and his wife, Andrea, relocated to Georgia. He co-founded Dominion Orthopedic Clinic in 2006. He practiced orthopedics in Johns Creek, GA for five years prior to joining Emory-Adventist Hospital.
