Mammography Scheduling Ended Oct. 1
Effective Wednesday, October 1, no new mammography appointments will be scheduled as we move toward the hospital’s closure. Mammography appointments that have already been scheduled into the month of October, or that are scheduled prior to October 1, will be honored.
Records will be available in the Mammography Dept. until October 31. We will post information on our website about accessing records after that.
The Best Protection is Early Detection
Cancer is most easily treated and cured when it is discovered in an early stage. That's why the mammogram, which is an x-ray of the breasts, is an essential part of a woman's healthcare regimen. A mammogram is done to help screen for, or diagnose breast cancer. Many small tumors can be seen on a mammogram before they can be discovered through self-examination. According to the American Cancer Society, women 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year.
The Mammography Center at Emory-Adventist Hospital is FDA approved and is an ACR accredited facility. The American College of Radiology (ACR) is a national organization that awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high-practice standards after assessing the qualifications of personnel and adequacy of facility's equipment.
