Spiritual Care
We know how important it is to create an environment that allows for healing the whole person -- body, mind and spirit. Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smryna is unique in the fact that it is the only Christian hospital in Cobb County, and is operated by Adventist Health System, the largest Protestant-based healthcare system in the world.
Chaplain Services
Our Pastoral Care Services staff provides emotional and spiritual support for patients and families of all faiths. A chaplain is in the hospital Monday-Friday and on call 24 hours a day for personal and family support. We respect the spiritual and religious beliefs of our patients, and work closely with area clergy in arranging special services, such as communion, baptism, etc., upon request.
As a Seventh-day Adventist Hospital, we celebrate the Sabbath from sunset Friday to sunset Saturday as a time for quiet rest to reflect on the Creator-God. Your care, however, will not be jeopardized, as all necessary patient services continue to be provided on Saturday, although most administrative offes are closed.
Chapel
If you are visiting with us and have a loved one in our facility, you may undoubtedly have some anxious moments. You may find that you need some quiet time--to reflect, to pray, or to spend some time with family and friends. Our Chapel is located in the front lobby area of the hospital, and is available to you, should you need some solitude.
Prayer
Another unique aspect of our hospital is that we encourage our employees to pray with our patients, should the patient request such. Of course, should you want a chaplain to pray with you, please ask your nurse to page someone from our pastoral care staff.
