The Best Protection is Early Detection

Cancer is most easily treated and cured when it is discovered in an early stage. That's why the mammogram, which is an x-ray of the breasts, is an essential part of a woman's healthcare regimen. A mammogram is done to help screen for, or diagnose breast cancer. Many small tumors can be seen on a mammogram before they can be discovered through self-examination. According to the American Cancer Society, women 40 and older should have a screening mammogram every year.

The Mammography Center at Emory-Adventist Hospital is FDA approved and is an ACR accredited facility. The American College of Radiology (ACR) is a national organization that awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high-practice standards after assessing the qualifications of personnel and adequacy of facility's equipment.
